Jean Kirk

I began my textile journey as a quilt maker, which is reflected in my love of slow, rhythmic, meditative hand stitch.  This allows me time to engage with the cloth and connect with my inner spirituality.

I am interested in pattern and see this everywhere; in nature, architecture, the built environment, also the patterns of sound in music and the world around me.  How to translate sound into stitch pattern is the basis of my current explorations.

Stitching, for me, is a method of healing myself; it calms and restores me, helps me to ground myself in reality.
